I am a USA Fellowship Trained Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon at The Royal Free Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University College London Hospital Medical School
Following my return from the USA, I have since developed The Foot & Ankle service at The Royal Free Hospital. My practice involves the diagnosis, management and treatment of complex lower limb deformity. In particular I have a special interest in adult and paediatric foot and ankle reconstruction. Other foot and ankle subspecialist areas include Paediatric, Sports Injuries, Diabetic, bleeding disorders (Haemophilias), Rheumatoid and arthritic conditions.
I was born and raised in the North West of England Liverpool and graduated from University College and The Middlesex School of Medicine University of London. After completing my basic surgical training at University College London Hospitals I was awarded both Membership and Fellowship to the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Ireland(Dublin) & Edinburgh
Following completion of an Orthopaedic Doctorate in Medicine (M.D.) at the Department of Trauma & Orthopaedics at the Royal Free titled “Haemophilic Arthropathy", I then went on to complete six years of Postgraduate Higher Surgical Trauma & Orthopaedic Training. During this time rotating through various hospitals such as Barts & The Royal London Hospitals, Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore and Great Ormond Street Hospital for sick children. I Successfully completed the Intercollegiate Specialty Examination in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery FRCS(Trauma & Ortho) in 2008.
My Fellowship training was undertaken United States of America in 2009 at the Institute of Foot & Ankle Reconstruction Baltimore Maryland, with world renowned Foot & Ankle surgeon Dr Mark S Myerson. In addition I undertook 12 months specialist training in spinal surgery at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London. I was awarded the prestigious British Orthopaedic Association Soli Lam Spinal fellowship in 2008.
During my period in Baltimore I also underwent a visiting fellowship to one of the largest dedicated Trauma facilities in the USA - Shock Trauma Centre - University of Maryland Medical Centre. Other visiting fellowships have included France, Holland, Germany, and Switzerland
I have published extensively on bleeding disorders affecting joints, foot & ankle treatment and management. Presented at learned societies both nationally and internationally. I am actively involved in training of surgeons, junior doctors and medical students at UCL medical school and have been appointed as Honorary Senior Lecturer.
I am married to a Consultant Physician (Endocrinology & Diabetes) with three children & enjoys all sports, endurance training sailing and skiing.
